AeroFile’s “Clipped Wings” Series

The History of Aborted Aircraft Projects

Two volumes featuring aircraft from 1935 up to 2007.

The first “Clipped Wings” volume was published in 2007, and has now been joined by a second volume featuring aircraft of the World War Two period.  In total, the series covers 165 aircraft over seven decades.

Clipped Wings -- The History of Aborted Aircraft Projects is designed to explore 85 aircraft prototypes that have failed to go into production from 1945 until 2007.  It is a chronicle of these aircraft, and explores the development of the aircraft, their histories and the reasons for their demise.

Clipped Wings -- World War Two Edition is a follow-up to the 2007 edition, and explores 80 aircraft prototypes that failed to go into production from 1935 until 1945.  Like the original book, the “World War Two Edition” chronicles these military aircraft and their histories.
